Curb Chains – It's All About Selection
When you're shopping for a gold chain you may think that it is going to be a simple affair. Just pick a chain, and your done right? It's actually rarely the case. There are different styles, different lengths, and it can be quite confusing. If you don't know which one to choose, sometimes the common curb chain is your best choice. The curb chain is built for strength and look, and it is one of the more versatile gold chains. Even with the curb chain, however, there are a few different things to consider.
Here is your guide to choosing the right one:
Style – Pendant or No Pendant
The first thing you want to look at when purchasing a curb chain is the pendant. If you have (or plan to buy) a pendant to go on the chain you will need to ensure that you choose the right curb chain to suit. In this case you want to choose one that will allow the pendant to slide. The tightly-linked classic curb chain should be your first choice.
If you don't plan to have a pendant you'll want to look at some of the other curb chains. A tightly linked curb chain may not look right if worn by itself. In this case you should look at the Rada curb chain, an open double flat, or the premium quality curb chains in our store. These larger versions will look great when worn alone, without a pendant.
Length – A Chain That Fits
Now that you have chosen a style, we need to look at length. Do you want the chain to fit like a choker, or hang to your chest? Obviously length is going to make a difference here. As a general rule for a choker style curb chain, you should choose one that's 2” longer that your neck. From there add length to allow it to hang lower.
Shopping for a gold chain doesn't have to be confusing. Just follow the few simple rules that we have given you here. If you're still having trouble, just ask us, we'll help you choose the curb chain that fits.
